About Us

Our Mission

The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago Association of Texas is a non profit community-based organization (501c3) established in 1990 which continues to be a progressive organization that serves the needs of all Trinbagonians residing in the state of Texas.

It is our mission to promote amicable relations between the citizens of the state of Texas and the nationals of Trinidad and Tobago, in hopes of fostering tolerance, economic growth, and social progress.

Our primary goal is to deliver community service through educational, cultural, and social service programs. Below is a listing of some of the programs that we have cooperated with and helped sponsor.

Texas Gulf Coast United Way . Monetary donations for charitable use within the Texas community.

Operation Rainbow. Offers free orthopedic, reconstructive, and plastic surgery to medically underserved children in Trinidad and Tobago who suffer from deformities as a result of accidents or congenital defects.

Doctors Without Walls, Trinidad and Tobago . Provides free medical care to patients in their rural communities who otherwise would not have access to hospital transportation or health care services.

Star of Hope Shelter in Houston, Texas . We provide monetary, clothing, and medication donations as well as volunteer manpower to feed the homeless.

Annual Thanksgiving Dinner. Provides a home cooked Thanksgiving meal and social event to students of many nationalities who cannot fly home to their respective countries for the short holiday weekend.

Family Day. Provides a day of sun and fun in the park, with gifts and trophies awarded to children for sports and games, a petting zoo, as well plenty of good food, drinks, and the music of Trinidad and Tobago.

Houston Caribfest . We are proud to be a supporter of Houston Caribfest, the largest Caribbean festival in the state of Texas. To highlight health and wellness, We have provided complimentary sun screen giveaways during the festival.

Welcome to Houston Program. We provides basic information for new arrivals to Houston such as driver’s license and social security office addresses, names and numbers of doctors and dentists, Caribbean grocery stores, our Honorary Consul, and contact information on how to reach a member of TTAT in case of an emergency for information, guidance, and moral support.

Illness and Bereavement Program. We provide contributions to families whose lifestyles have been compromised by the illness or death of a family member.

Scholarship Program. This program is open to all graduating high school seniors who will be attending an accredited 4 year college or university within the United States. Also eligible are any students currently enrolled in an accredited 4 year college or university within the United States who are not at the graduating senior level. Scholarships are not based on financial need, but are competitively rated on academic merit.

Due to our 501c3 status, all donations to the organization are tax deductible.
All levels of support are greatly appreciated.
